What is Global Entry?
Global Entry is a program created by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, lowrisk travelers upon arrival in the United States. This program aims to make traveling easier and more efficient by allowing members to skip long immigration and customs lines at participating airports. In addition to the time-saving benefits, Global Entry also includes TSA PreCheck®, which provides expedited security screening at participating U.S. airports.
How does Global Entry work?
Global Entry members enter the United States through automatic kiosks at select airports. At the kiosk, members scan their passports, provide their fingerprints and complete a customs declaration. Once cleared, members receive a receipt and can then proceed to baggage claim and the exit.
To enroll, travelers must first complete an online application and pay a non-refundable fee. Once approved, membership is valid for five years and can be renewed online.
Who is eligible for Global Entry?
U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, and citizens of certain other countries are eligible for Global Entry. To be eligible, applicants must undergo a background check and an in-person interview with a CBP officer. Applicants must also have a clean criminal record, no customs, immigration or agriculture violations, and must not be the subject of an ongoing investigation by any federal, state, or local law enforcement agency. If you are under the age of 18, you must have your parent or legal guardian's consent to participate in the program.
While Global Entry is a U.S. program, there are several countries where citizens can apply for membership through CBP's Trusted Traveler Programs (TTP) website. These countries include:

How to get reimbursed for Global Entry with credit cards
Some credit cards offer reimbursement (up to a certain amount) for the cost of Global Entry as a cardmember benefit. To take advantage of this benefit, you will need to use your eligible credit card to pay for the Global Entry application fee. Reimbursement is usually given as a statement credit on your credit card bill within a few billing cycles of your payment.

How much does Global Entry cost?
At the time of writing, the cost of a Global Entry membership is $100, and it is valid for five years. However, as stated above, certain credit cards offer a statement credit for the application fee, so you may be able to get the cost of Global Entry reimbursed. Just remember that some of these credit cards may come with an annual fee.
The one-time fee required with your Global Entry application must be paid at time an application is submitted. The fee is non-refundable, even if an application is denied.
Does Global Entry include TSA PreCheck?
Yes, Global Entry includes TSA PreCheck. TSA PreCheck is a separate program that allows expedited screening for domestic flights departing from U.S. airports. Global Entry members are automatically enrolled in TSA PreCheck and can use their Known Traveler Number (KTN) when booking flights to receive TSA PreCheck benefits.
How long does it take to get Global Entry?
The Global Entry application process can take several weeks or months to complete. On average, the process takes 10 to 12 months.
After submitting an application, applicants can expect to wait a few weeks for conditional approval, after which they will need to schedule an in-person interview at a Global Entry Enrollment Center. Depending on the location and demand, there's an additional waiting period to secure an interview appointment.

What are the benefits of Global Entry?
The main benefit of Global Entry is expedited clearance through U.S. Customs and Border Protection when entering the United States.
