Here's what happens when your CD matures.

Here’s what to do when your CD matures

Now that your Chase Certificate of Deposit (CD) is about to mature, we can help you explore options.

Our bankers can help review your options

A banker can help you choose the option that's best for you. There may be other products or CDs that better meet your needs.

Things to keep in mind:

  • You can make changes starting on the maturity date through the 10-day grace period that follows. We encourage you to meet with a banker during this timeframe if you'd like to make changes.
  • If we don't hear from you, your CD will automatically renew for the same or similar term with a new maturity date. You'll receive the interest rate and APY that are in effect on your maturity date, which may be lower than your current rates. See FAQ below for more information about our current rates.

Frequently Asked Questions

The maturity date is the last day of your CD’s term. The grace period is the 10 days after the maturity date for CDs with a term of 14 days or longer. You can find your maturity date by signing in to chase.com or the Chase Mobile® app or by going to a branch.

We recommend discussing your options with a Chase banker during your 10-day grace period so you can decide which changes to make:

  • Change the term (length) of your CD
  • Add money to it (for non-retirement CDs only)
  • Withdraw all or part of your CD

If you make no changes, your current CD will automatically renew for the same term at the interest rate and APY in effect on your maturity date (different terms may apply for CD ladders).

Two things to keep in mind:

  • For the renewal term, your CD will earn the CD relationship rate as long as it's linked to a qualifying Chase personal checking account.
  • If your CD is closed during the grace period, it won't earn interest on or after the maturity date.

Depending on what type of Chase CD you have, here's how you can make changes:

You can make a withdrawal during your 10-day grace period without any fees. Outside of that period, there are early withdrawal fees. For details on withdrawal or interest penalties, see below:

  • Chase Personal CDs: Please see the Additional Banking Services and Fees section, "Certificate of Deposit Accounts," which can be accessed on the Deposit Disclosures and Interest Rates page.
  • Chase Business CDs: Please see the Additional Banking Services and Fees section, "Business CD Accounts", which can be accessed on the Deposit Disclosures and Interest Rates page.
  • Chase Commercial CDs: Contact your Client Service Analyst or Associate.
