After your payoff
Paying off your mortgage is something to celebrate
After your payoff
Here’s what happens after you pay off your mortgage:
You’ll receive confirmation of payoff
Within 10 days, we’ll send you confirmation by letter and/or email that your loan has been paid in full. Please keep this for your records.
If you have money left over, we’ll send you a refund check
If you overpay or have money remaining in your escrow account, we’ll mail your refund no later than 10 days after your payoff is processed to the mailing address listed on your payoff quote. If your mailing address is changing, sign in to chase.com to update it or download the address change form (PDF) and mail or fax it to the address listed.
We’ll let the county know your loan is paid off
We will send a document that indicates that your mortgage is paid off (called a mortgage satisfaction document) to your local county recorder’s office. They will record this information and release the lien on your property. This document is then returned to us. You can request a copy of the mortgage satisfaction document from your county recorder’s office after you pay off your mortgage. Please allow 60 to 90 days after your loan is paid in full before contacting them for a copy of the lien.
Note: timeframes can vary by county and could take up to six months.
You can still access your tax documents and mortgage statements
You’ll have access to the last 24 months of tax and mortgage statements at chase.com. For tax payments made during the current calendar year, we’ll send Form 1098: Mortgage Interest Statement in January of the following calendar year to the mailing address listed on your payoff quote. If your mailing address is changing, sign in to chase.com to update it or download the address change form (PDF) and mail or fax it to the address listed.
